Healthy baby food recipes

Two healthy baby food recipes with liver:

1. Mashed pork liver with vegetables

Pork liver is one of Chinese people's favorite ingredients for baby food, because it is rich in iron, which can prevent babies from getting anemia. Mashed pork liver is also rich of vitamin A which is good for your baby's eye development.

age: above 7 months

Ingredients:

- pork liver 1-2 ounces / 50g

- potato 1 ounce / 20g

- tomato 1 ounce / 20g

- 0.25 cups of clear soup

How to cook:

1. Boil the liver in water until it is fully cooked

2. Peal potato, boil it in water until it is fully cooked

3. Use a Hand Blender to mash cooked liver, potato and tomato. If you are in need of a Hand Blender check out this one from Cusineart. It is very durable, easy to use and even easier to clean.

4. Put the mixture into a pot, add clear soup and use low heat to cook for 5-6 minutes until it is ready

2. Steamed chicken liver with egg yolk and vegetables

Carrots are a good source of Thiamin, Niacin, Vitamin B6, Folate and Manganese, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K and Potassium. Chicken liver provides Protein, Riboflavin, Iron and Selenium. These nutrition are vital for your children's healthy growth.

age: above 12 months

Ingredients:

- chicken liver 3 ounces / 90g

- carrot 1 ounce / 25g

- one egg yolk

- some spring onion chopped into small pieces

- Some drops of Sesame Oil. My favorite Oil for Asian cooking is La Tourangelle's Sesame Oil. It has a very good taste and offers high quality for a low price.

- Some drops of Vegetable Oil. I always use Vegetable Oil from Wesson.

- a little bit salt

Hand Blender

How to cook:

1. Cut the chicken liver into small pieces, pan fry it with the spring onion in vegetable oil until it is medium well cooked, then use a hand blender to mash it

2. Steam or boil the carrot until it is cooked, then use hand blender to mash it

3. Beat the egg yolk, then add mashed liver and carrot, a little salt, a few drops of sesame oil, mix well, and then steam using a Steamer until everything is fully cooked. For steaming food I recommend you the Digital Steamer from Hamilton Beach. It comes with several cooking (steaming) modes, keeps food warm after it is done cooking and it is very easy to clean.
